Does your home have a few Cosmetic Needs?

Whether you are planning to sell or just bought your home there is the strong possibility that you will at some point need to paint your home.

When selling your home you want to ensure that others can see themselves in your home and you want your walls to be neutral colors like eggshell NOT something loud and specific to taste like neon yellow or like our example orange with circles and peace signs, that others would find hard to see themselves in. If the Seller has done a good job finding neutral colors it makes finding a Buyer who can feel at home and imagine other colors on the walls, their pictures and their "stuff" easier. If a buyer feels at home then they in turn become emotionally attached to the home and more likely to want to buy the home.

As a buyer, you are looking for good deals and sometimes those good deals come with good structures but not so pretty of a package. This is true often with foreclosures and short sales or homes of distressed owners. Don't let walls like these deter you from getting a good house. It isn't anything a little paint can't fix. Paint is used to set the mood in the house, and make spaces appear bigger, feel cozier, and brighten our lives.

Take a look at this nifty paint calculation. Put in the heights and lengths of your walls to find out just how much paint you will need. You will never have to return to the store a second time to get a second gallon or quart of paint.

You've picked your color, but how many gallons will you need for your room? Calculate the wall area of the room; you'll need one gallon for 450 square feet.

To determine the wall area, multiply the height of each wall by its width (don't subtract for doors and windows unless they take up more than half the wall); total the figures for the walls. Add 10 percent for future touch-ups. For two coats, double the number.
